New Orleans punk quartet Pears blasted onto the scene in 2014 with their raw bursts of hardcore fury. Their unfettered D.I.Y. sound caught the attention of Fat Wreck Chords and the band signed with the label soon after releasing their debut, 2015’s Go to Prison. From there, their songwriting got tighter and Pears expanded their sound on subsequent efforts such as 2016’s Green Star and their eponymous 2020 LP. Formed by Zach Quinn (vocals) and Brian Pretus (guitar) — both formerly of the Lollies — they released their first EP, …In Diapers, mere days after getting together. Months later, their debut LP was finished — written in less than a day — and self-released.
Founded by vocalist Jenny Angelillo, and guitarist George Rager, Neighborhood Brats hit the ground running, recording their debut EP with just 5 rehearsals under their belt. The urgency of “just going for it” became standard practice, with notoriously wild live shows and an almost as crazy reputation for off-stage behavior.
