Bad Se
lf Portraits – Bad Self Portraits is an indie rock band from Omaha, Nebraska, known for emotionally charged songwriting, bold vulnerability, and magnetic live performances. Formed in 2017, the band features Ingrid Howell (vocals, bass), Cole Kempcke (guitar), Connor Paintin (guitar, keys), and Jesse White (drums, vocals). Their debut LP I Think I’m Going to Hell marks a breakthrough moment in their journey. For Bad Self Portraits, this release is a reclamation. I Think I’m Going to Hell is an unflinching exploration of grief, mental health, religious anxiety, and family trauma – the aftermath of chaos, rendered in sharp detail.
See Through Dresses – See Through Dresses released their debut self-titled LP in November of 2013. Principal songwriters Mathew Carroll and Sara Bertuldo, along with drummer Nate Van Fleet and bassist Alex Kirts, have crafted a catalogue of songs indebted to classic post-punk and new wave artists of the 80s, while their sonic footprint more closely resembles the textural treatments of 90s dream-pop and shoegaze. Since that debut, the band has released both an EP, End of Days, and a second LP, Horse of the Other World, further refining their sound while expanding its emotional and dynamic range. The arrangements often build as though to erupt, only to implode—moments where Bertuldo and Carroll sound noxious and distant, their voices doused in reverb, guitars droning and pulsing. See Through Dresses have toured extensively around the world, sharing the stage with artists such as Cursive, Sebadoh, Deep Sea Diver, Cymbals Eat Guitars, and more.
